AUTOMATIC DOOR FOR ENERGY SAVINGS

A Japanese inventor named Rikiya Fukuda has developed an automatic door that seems like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The door uses motion sensors to open just enough to accomodate the shape and size of whatever is passing through it. This saves energy by only opening as much as is required, and can also be used to maintain temperature inside a room or building or keep dust and dirt from being swept in.

The door system can be scaled up or down as needed, ranging in applications from package delivery at a post office to garage doors. Currently the device is only a prototype.via Time’s Best Invention
