DNA-based eating plan for optimal health

Sciona Inc. has commercialized a DNA screening method, called Nutrigenomics, to determine health recommendations based on your genetic predispositions. The easy process includes a questionaire and a cheek swab, which is sent back to their laboratory for analysis. When you get the report back about 2 weeks later it includes listings of gene variations that indicate a potential health problem. Because we’re not all geneticists the report also includes specific recommendations about how to tweak your lifestyle to better suit your genes to achieve optimal health.

Most people already know that certain foods help fight certain types of diseases; this service allows you to know which diseases you’re predisposed to, as well as which specific foods are the most beneficial to you. Since none of us are adapted to processing pesticides, another general recommendation is to eat organic food whenever possible.
