Plantic Biodegradable Plastic

Australian-based Plantic Technologies Ltd. has developed a corn-based plastic material called Plantic that can be used for the same uses as traditional disposable plastic trays. The Plantic material looks, feels and performs just like plastic but is made from non-GM corn and is compostable. Plantic is suitable for dry foods packaging such as biscuit and confectionary trays, blister packaging, and trays for electronic components. Plantic trays are also not subject to the dramatic price variations petrochemical products experience.
