Advanced Textiles for Cleaning

Many of the household cleaners we use contain a variety of harmful toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, phenol, ammonia, ethanol, butane, propane to name a few. And, these chemicals have a large impact on our health and environment. Individuals that suffer from allergies or multiple chemical sensitivities are even more susceptible to the ill effects of these toxic chemicals. Whether its for health reasons or whether you just want a chemical free way to clean, people have been turning again to the old tried and true cleaning solutions, such as baking soda, vinegar, etc. The only problem is that in our busy society, these cleaners aren’t as convenient as off the shelf cleaning products. However, there is a faster and healthier way to clean – Microfiber cleaning cloths. Microfiber cleaning cloths enable you to clean almost everything with just the cloth and hot water. They eliminate the need to carry around different cleaners for different uses. These cloths are a great environmentally friendly healthy alternative to cleaning with chemicals.

Water is the most benign substance on the planet, and using it as a cleaning solution with a microfiber cloth sounds great to me. I bought one of the cloths, and I’ve been using it for cleaning and polishing things around my apartment. Years ago my mom bought me a Swiffer duster, which was fairly convenient, but I never liked the idea of having disposable cleaning equipment. Microfiber cloths work the same way as a Swiffer, but are re-usable. Rinse the cloth after you use it, and once a week just toss it in with your laundry. It doesn’t get much simpler, or more sustainable, than that!
Amazon.com has many different types of micro fiber cleaning cloths available.
